[Erotica] 001 - In Trouble Again

Her fingernails tapped against her teeth as she hesitated to ask if there was even a plan. She knew, really she always knew that the plan was that there was no plan, and if there had been even the thought of a plan it'd be changed before it even started, so mostly it was pointless to even plan. Still with her back pressed against the wall and her knees drawn up against her chest she felt a sigh coming on and didn't want it to escape her lips. Of course then the walls shifted again and the cranking sound behind her started again. The low vibration of metal grinding against metal felt in her spine down to her toes as she was scooted along with the wall.

The Doctor though was up onto his feet again, pressing his cheek to the wall, using the Sonic Screwdriver where he thought might trigger something. He worked at a maddening pace, shifting about the wall as it moved toward him. Feet taking those tiny steps back along with the wall, almost tripping himself up in the process. Rose just stayed put, knowing that by the end of it the denim pockets of her jeans would be more than just dusty and dirty, but well worn in spots where the seams overlapped, and frayed at the edge where her pocket kept folding over and back right again.

"Five inches this time... right. Five times the equilateral distance from before, cause before it was seven, so it's less this time and that means..."

Rose glanced up at him, the back of her head pressing against the wall letting her hair tangle up in a matting of blonde against steel, "Means what?"

The Doctor ran his fingers through his hair a bit, messing it up as he did even a bit more than it already was. He took his glasses off as well, letting the stem rest on his bottom lip for a moment before he snapped them up and slipped them into his pocket, "No clue."

"Right."

"No really, I mean I have got absolutely no clue. I mean if it was decreasing I'd like to think it was me doing that, but see it was five this time, seven before and what three before that? It's not even... well it's odds.. but still not even going in any sort of pattern that I can sort out. It was eleven the time 'fore the three too yeah? Odds."

"Like odd numbers? Or... the odds are against us," Rose questioned as she shifted onto her side a bit, letting her legs fold beside her, tucking one foot beneath a thigh.

"Oh... not against us, well could be, possibly, but I'd like to think that the odds are favorable. Good numbers odd numbers, still it'll work out. I'm sure of it."

Rose could rest her foot on the opposite wall now quite easily, except for the part where her knee was just about into her chest when she did so. Once more her fingernails tapped lightly against her teeth as she glanced up to the Doctor staring the wall down it seemed. As if he was daring it to move again. Daring it to do anything except retreat. Like if the wall dared to move while he was staring it down, then he'd teach it a right lesson or something. Rose just stared at the laces to her shoes. Glad she'd gone with the tennies instead of the heeled boots she'd wanted to wear. Keeping her feet flat to the wall made her feel as if she was connected to it all somehow, that no matter how close the walls pressed in she was still able to feel something against her back and beneath her feet.

The rumble started behind her and she sighed, this time the sound came out slightly beneath her breath causing the Doctor to glance down to her, breaking his stare from the wall even as it started to move again, but then it stopped quicker than it had in all the previous times. There was almost a good two feet left in the room and Rose though maybe something had worked. That maybe there was someone watching them and decided that enough was well enough.

"Ah-Ha! See? Told you Rose, look it's only gone a half an inch now!" The Doctor proclaimed as he turned to the wall to beam a bit at it, "Thought you had us did y-"

Of course the Doctor didn't have much time to boast as Rose felt a new vibration coming from beneath her as the walls to her right and left started to move.

"Oh... well that's just not fair."

Now it was almost two feet by close to two feet of space and Rose was pressed with her back to the Doctor and his to hers. Mirrored opposites staring at the walls trying to see if they were going to end up closing in on them any further.

"Doctor?"

"Yes Rose?"

"I mean... I hate to ask... really, but... you do have a plan right? I mean I'm not going to become like some... rubbish car taken to the compactors, right? I won't end up some cubed up piece of Rose and Doctor on some conveyor somewhere?"

She could feel the Doctor turning against her back, and then his hands on her shoulder urging her to face him, "Look at me Rose."

Shifting around carefully letting her shoulder drop a bit to allow her frame the room to move she turned to look at her Doctor. She was always amazed at the clarity in his eyes. No doubt, no real fear behind them, just this look that made her feel like it would be okay. Because he was The Doctor and that was what he did... fixed things... took care of her... kept her safe. It was all she needed, but really he still opened his mouth to talk.

"We're going to get out of this. The walls haven't moved in over an-"

Then the sound came again and the walls began to vibrate, slowly moving toward the two of them.

"Oh come on now! That's just not fair! I was only saying."

Rose laughed, trying to keep it inside instead of slipping from her lips but she couldn't help it and a tiny laugh came and went from her mouth. Her eyes widened a bit, as if she'd been caught doing something completely wrong, when in a way she wasn't doubting the Doctor, just amused at his timing.

"Finding something funny?"

"Quite actually," Rose admitted as the wall pressed against her back now, pushing her against the Doctor. Now though it wasn't funny, because she felt as if this continued, if this movement forced her too close to her Doctor she might lose all breath from her lungs, and that all her bones would splinter and break beneath her skin, and suddenly it was terrifying her. Because his timing and choice of words was all well and humorous but the scene was being set for something quite more tragic.

"Doctor?" Rose asked again, this time her words flooded with fear and there was a slight tremble to her question, because the walls hadn't stopped yet, and though they were moving slowly she still couldn't help but be afraid.

"Rose, here look at me... it's going to be alright," The Doctor's hand shifted from behind his back to cup beneath her chin, forcing her downcast eyes to look into his once more. "I promise you Rose Tyler, you'll laugh again."

Then even as the walls continued to move them even closer together Rose closed that gap between them. Her feet arched upward, letting toes feel pressed into the tips of her shoes, and she almost in that moment wished she'd had her heeled boots instead of the flats. It started with a soft brushing of her lips to his, because if her final moments were to be spent pressed this close to the man she'd been at the side of for so long, she'd rather prefer to go out with quite a memory.

Still despite her own emotions she knew that the Doctor had his own way of showing how he felt, in the small glances and the way he offered his hand even when she already knew it was hers to be taken. Those simple gestures were how he told her, and she knew no matter what that he'd be there at her side, just like she'd be at his. So when Rose let her lips part against his, she wasn't sure what it would spark. The first time wasn't with him really, and it was to take something back that didn't belong to her. It was needed, like air and water, and it was a kiss she'd never forget. The second wasn't even hers, and she still couldn't believe Cassandra had even the nerve to do that. Of course the hospital security footage had been proof enough and Rose had felt a twinge of jealousy watching it replay.

Now though, it was a soft gesture, almost as if she was asking permission to do the one thing she knew could change the rest of their time together. It wouldn't be 'just a kiss' because it had always been a series of events that didn't 'end with a kiss' despite the opportunity being almost perfect for it. So when his hand laced against her cheek and threaded into the hair at the nape of her neck she felt her chest cinch up tight, pulling in every ounce of fear that she had been feeling about her whole body caving in, and just allowed herself to drown in him.

A slight parting of her lips drew a gasp of air into her lungs making her chest expand and press into the wall that was still moving at a crawls pace against her. The same breath forcing her breasts against his chest even closer, and almost making her feel the need to hold the air in, to try and keep the wall at her back still just long enough for her to finish the kiss. Teeth that had been tapped upon my fingernails earlier out of nervousness, now hit against the Doctor's as her head tipped aside to allow for their kiss to deepen. Her mind flashed for a moment as the click of sound echoed in her head to when he first arrived and felt those teeth for the first time on his own.

As her tongue pressed beyond those teeth to press against his, she could taste him, and it wasn't the odd bitter taste of the TARDIS in her anymore. No slightly metallic taint to his mouth, instead only a slight hint of the banana smoothie he'd bought earlier on their trip. The one he'd finished and tossed into the wrong waste bin... the one mistake that on their way off of the planet had gotten them arrested and thrown into this abyss. Those first hours she couldn't help but ask him how come he had known about the best smoothies but not about the rubbish bin laws.

Now as the sweet taste clung to the depth of his mouth she was grateful that she'd asked him not to try the one that was the color of bananas instead. She could feel her lashes brushing against his cheek as her head tilted further, eyes shutting out the dismal space they were in. She tried to ignore the fact that in a few more minutes she'd have no space to even take in a full breath, and instead focused on the thought that if she hadn't waited to kiss him until this moment, then this moment wouldn't mean so much to her.

It would be their first and last kiss. It would flood her afterlife with the smell of tea and the taste of bananas. This final kiss would be the one thing she'd wish for them never to take from her memories if she would be forced to be rid of them all. As her hands tried to make their way from between their bodies up into his hair, she felt her elbow hit against the steel. The vibration in her arm now a tingling sensation proving she'd hit it in the wrong place. She wanted to cry out and rub at it, but there was no room, and no time to waste. So instead she allowed her mind to take over the pain and her fingers to roam into his hair. Feeling the softness of it, as she could feel his hand strong against the back of her head, still guiding her mouth upon his own. No longer was it Rose kissing the Doctor and him reciprocating, it had become something they were sharing, and something she felt maybe he had wanted too. If there had been more room... if there had been more time... but instead all there was now was this single moment and Rose took it all in. The pressure of her body against his, the aroma of metal and the scent of his suit jacket, the loud buzzing of an alarm sounding.

"D'ear'hat?"" The Doctor tried to sound out between Rose's attempts to reclaim his mouth as hers. But he leaned back, pulling away from the kiss. The buzzing sound now flooding her senses as there was no longer the feel of a tongue winding against her own, and no echo of two hearts beating quickly against her chest. "That alarm? It's... new. New alarm sounding... and loud too."

Rose was still in a bit of a haze, her eyes heavy with a bit of wanderlust wondering just why someone had to sound the alarm when she'd finally been getting something she'd wanted, "Hmmm?"

"QUARANTINE TIME PASSED. SUBJECTS DETERMINED NON-THREAT"

That was quite clear, "Quarantine? Like... not arrested, not getting compacted to the bin? Just held for questioning?" Then the sound of metal gears grinding started up and the walls began to pull away from them. Rose immediately felt her body give a bit as she nearly toppled backward. The Doctor's steady hand moving on pure instinct to catch her.

"Careful there," he said with a smile, that hinted in his eyes that he was thrilled that they were still alive.

Rose brushed her hair back from her eyes a bit, even though it wasn't actually in her eyes, then tucked a strand behind her ear, "So... we're free to go now? They just shrink us down to nearly nothing... then let us go? Could've been nice to know that to start yeah?"

The Doctor pulled his glasses from his inside jacket pocket putting them on as he read the words that were on the farthest edge of the cell now that the walls were fully extended out and the door was visible once more, "Oh... see well this makes sense. Well in as much of a way as this can make sense. Right here. See says, Recycle, Reuse and Reduce."

Rose looked at him as if he'd gone mad, as if maybe that kiss had taken something from the Doctor and he just wasn't aware of it, "What does that even have to do with anything?"

Then there was that raise of an eyebrow as he leaned in close beside her ear, "For a while back there Rose... we were just one existence, together. No longer two separate things... we were one."

As it started to fall into place for her, she still got a bit dreamy when he whispered to her, but she snapped right out of it when he announced it rather loudly to the empty room, "And there you have it, we took two things and made it one! Reduction of items, and snap! Oh it's quite brilliant actually... well less so if you are the only one in there and can't exactly make yourself one half. I guess that's what the compress is for. They just make everyone take up less space. Quite painful I'm sure, but no matter! Free as a bird, and off to new adventures!"

Rose laughed as she caught sight of his hand reaching out behind him to take hers once more, "Told you that you'd laugh again, and don't I always keep my promises?"
