[Storms] 018 - Déjà vu.

Not quite a maze... but it felt like it considering Rose had spent the past hour and a half weaving through the halls trying to find her way out. Of course she wasn't actually trying exceptionally hard, sort of letting her fingertips grow numb as they skimmed against the drywall sides of the maze. Sighing aloud Rose let a numb finger press into the corner of her eye, tugging at something that she swore was irritating her left one, but of course nothing was there and she just spent another few minutes blinking away the feeling of nothing.

It wasn't exactly pointless but she'd already been marking off the hallways with her pot of Coffee for my Lips Balm, sadly too since she wasn't sure when exactly she'd be able to pick up another. However when she started to see familiar things but no markings she realized that there wasn't much else she could do for the moment, so she just wandered around hoping that maybe something would look familiar, or maybe for the better... different.

That was forty minutes ago, and now Rose was just frustrated with the same repeating hallways and corners, "It's the same. I go left an' then five minutes later I go left again and I swear I'm in the same bloody hall. Worse case of Déjà vu ever."

Continuing down the hall she started to hear a click with every other step, and a glance down to her shoes showed a loose lace causing the noise. Taking the chance to tie her shoes she pressed her back to the wall and slouched down to the ground reaching for her foot and retying up her laces. Seated with bent knees in front of her Rose let her chin rest atop them as she shut her eyes, just trying to figure out how she was going to get out of this one.

"Sittin' down on the job there Rose?"

The voice came from above and Rose didn't even open her eyes, recognizing the insolent tone as Abner. Arrogant prick that thought he had some clout over here just cause he had been with Torchwood longer than her. Torchwood, the one thing that almost made sense in her life, but the same thing that put her into these dire situations that she wouldn't mind so much if she knew that in the end The Doctor would be the one celebrating a job well done with her.

"'Bout time you showed up, I'd say. How's that for sittin' down on the job Ab?"

"Oh... I'd right say you'd been thinking that our job is just to save you. It's not... if you were curious."

"Oh right," Rose snipped as she opened her eyes standing up to glance to Abner with a bit of a sneer on her features, "Cause I need it so often then right? Seems just cause I'm stuck now you'd forgotten the well you'd fallen into last month?"

"Nah... not forgotten, but come on Rose. You've been off comms for an hour."

"Needed to think is all, so I wandered... just... down the wrong hall I guess," Rose scratched at the back of her head, the knot of her ponytail pulling a bit loose at the tug of her fingers. Rolling her eyes at Abner she pressed her comms back online, "I'm here Dorris. No need to send the whole team bloody in here for me."

"Well... just what did you expect from that sort of stunt?"

"Nothin' at all," Rose shrugged up to Abner as he flipped his tracker back on and turned to lead Rose out of the maze.

"You did get the sample though yeah?"

"Course... here," Rose replied as she reached into her jacket pocket pulling out the small vial. A thousand tiny little creatures all trapped in a fluid that was running right through all the pipes of the cooling system. Rose handed the vial over to Abner then returned her hands to her pockets following him out of the maze as if it wasn't a challenge of any sort.

All the halls on the way out were ones she'd marked, the small smears of gloss in the corners and if she'd actually wanted to... she could have gotten out on her own. There was just a small part of her that just thought... if she needed him enough... he'd just show up.

Doesn't help to lie though, and she knew it. The sun blinded her as she came out of the dimly lit maze into the overcast London skies, the gust of wind picking up with each turn of the helicopters blades. She stood there in the doorway between a maze of familiar halls she almost thought she knew... and the world she didn't belong in.

"Come on... have it away on 'er toes Rose," called Abner from ahead of her. "World waits for none."

"Ain't that the truth."

If only it were that easy, you know I would.

In this case, Rose? Obsession is warranted.

Not that I'm admitting I've become a bit obsessed.
