You know, I'd rather you would ignore me. I believe I've mentioned it to you before now.

I do hate to butt in but you shouldn't rise to his bait if you want him to ignore you.

Ordinarily I'd agree with you, but if I rise to his bait he might give me a reason to shoot him.
